You know you do good work and customers refer you, but when someone searches for your service on Google, a competitor shows up instead. In most cases the reason is one of the following, and almost all of them can be fixed.
1. Google cannot find or index your pages
If a page is not in Google’s index, it does not show up for anyone. Search for site:yourdomain.com for a quick idea, and confirm it in Google Search Console’s indexing report. Common blockers: a forgotten “noindex” tag, a robots.txt rule, or important pages with no links pointing to them.
2. There is no page for the service customers search for
If customers search for “deep cleaning” and your site only has a generic services page, Google has no clear page to show. Each important service needs its own English page explaining what is included, where you work and how to request a quote.
3. Your Google Business Profile is incomplete
The map pack depends on your Business Profile. A wrong primary category, services without descriptions, outdated hours and few real photos all weaken it. See the step by step in how to set up your Google Business Profile correctly.
4. Your details do not match across site, profile and directories
A different phone number on the site and the profile, a name spelled in different ways, a service area that changes from one place to another. Google cross-checks these sources, and mismatches reduce trust in your data.
5. Your content is in Portuguese or translated word for word
American customers search in English. If your site speaks to the Brazilian community, it will show up for that community, not for the rest of the market. And literal translations often use terms Americans do not type.
6. You are targeting the wrong searches
Sometimes a site describes a service in words nobody uses when searching. The local keyword guide shows how to find the real terms and pick the ones that lead to contact.
7. Your site is slow or hard to use on a phone
Most local searches happen on phones. If the page loads slowly or the call button is hidden, customers go back to the results and choose someone else. The WordPress technical SEO checklist helps you find the bottlenecks.
8. Competition is strong and your site is new
For some services and cities, competitors have years of reviews, content and links. That does not stop you from growing, but it changes the strategy: start with more specific searches and areas where competition is lighter.
Where to start
- Confirm your pages are indexed.
- Review your Google Business Profile.
- Make sure each main service has its own page.
- Align your details across site, profile and directories.
- Only then increase content volume.
